TREE OF LIGHTS CEREMONY CANCELLED

Due to new COVID-19 restrictions, the coming together to light the Hospice “Tree of Lights” ceremony is cancelled.

The lights will still be turned on for each tree in Radium Hot Springs, Invermere, Fairmont Hot Springs and Canal Flats, but there will no gathering of people.

The Hospice is encouraging everyone to still purchase a light for $10 to commemorate a loved one,  by going online at www.hospicesocietycv.com or by calling the office at 778-526-5143.

The purchase of the lights will continue until December 24th. Lighting a ‘candle’ is not only to remember those we lost, but is also a universal symbol of hope. The year 2020 has been challenging for our communities and the world and people experienced loss in more than one way. The Hospice invites everyone to light up and make wishes for a better year to come.

  • Invermere: Outside, Below the Invermere Public Library
  • Radium: Outside the Village Office
  • Fairmont: Outside the Lion’s Den
  • Canal Flats: Outside the Discovery Centre

Memory cards for Radium, Invermere and Fairmont will be available at the Hospice office Unit # 103 Frater landing -926 7th AVE Invermere after November 27.

Memory cards for Canal Flats are available at the Village office on or after November 30.

Many thanks to Perry Horning of Kootenay Branch and Bough for providing the trees for Invermere, radium and Canal Flats.

This event is sponsored by McPherson Funeral Services.  All proceeds go to support our Bereavement Program.

COVID safety requirements will be in place.

To purchase a light in memory of a loved one, $10 per light, please click the Purchase button below. You will be given a commemorative card with their name on it and their name will be listed in the Remembrance Book housed in the Hospice Resource Centre.

Poems

WHEN TOMORROW STARTS WITHOUT ME
Author: David M Romano

When tomorrow starts without me
And I’m not here to see
If the sun should rise and find your eyes
All filled with tears for me
I wish you wouldn’t cry
The way you did today
While thinking of the many things
We did not get to say

I know how much you love me
As much as I love you
Each time that you think of me
I know you will miss me too
When tomorrow starts without me
Please try to understand
That an angel came and called my name
And took me by the hand

The angel said my place was ready
In heaven far above
And That I would have to leave behind
All those I dearly love
But as I turned to walk away,
A tear fell from my eye;
For all my life, I’d always thought
I didn’t want to die.

I had so much to live for,
so much yet to do;
It seemed almost impossible,
That I was leaving you.
I thought of all the yesterdays,
The good ones and the bad;
I thought of all the love we shared,
And all the fun we had.

If I could relive yesterday
Just even for a while,
I’d say goodbye and kiss you
And maybe see you smile.
But then I fully realized
That this could never be;
For emptiness and memories
Would take the place of me.

So When Tomorrow starts without me
Do not think we’re apart
For every time you think of me
Remember I’m right here in your heart

TREE OF LIGHTS CANDLE LIGHTING
Four Candles for You (Author Unknown)

The first candle represents our grief.
The pain of losing you is intense.
It reminds us of the depth of our love for you.
It reminds us of all we lost.

This second candle represents our courage.
To be with our sorrow,
To comfort each other,
To change our lives.

This third candle we light in your memory.
For the times we laughed,
The times we cried,
The times we were angry with each other,
The silly things you did,
The caring and joy you gave us.

This fourth candle we light for our love.
We light this candle that your light will always shine.
As we enter this holiday season and share this night of remembrance
with our family and friends.

We cherish the special place in our hearts
that will always be reserved for you.
We thank you for the gifts your living brought to each of us.
We love you. We honour you. And we remember you always.

Thank You
